We rely on the generosity of individuals like you to fund the important work we do in Kibera. With your help, we can keep our two micro factories running, staffed and supplied with enough raw materials to make pads for 50 schools in Kibera each year.

The event you hold does not need to be fancy, some food and drinks and a comfy environment is all you need.

 

It’s likely your guests rarely think about Periods, or the unconscious reliance they have on a drawer full of knickers, and emergency handbag supplies. It’s this huge contrast to the women and young girls of Kibera, that has generated conversation and action at fundraisers held to date.

  

Simply share our story.

 

Young girls in Kibera confront a harsh reality when their period comes around;

• Periods are taboo, private, and not understood - not even spoken about with mothers.

• They don’t have knickers or sanitary pads.

• No private bathrooms to manage their business.

• Girls are isolated at home laying down when they have their period ashamed to go out.

• Limited running water, limiting hygiene.

• 800 girls were hospitalised with vaginal infections in just 9 months.

• Single Mothers are trapped in the poverty cycle with no way to earn.

• Girls as young as 10yrs prostituting themselves to buy sanitary pads or dropping out.

 

65% of girls never finish high school leaving them sick and trapped in the poverty cycle
